ReplyDeleteThe theme for Forgive my Guilt is regret and remorse. The poet regret the day when he was a boy and he shot and broke two birds'wings and it was heart rending for him to watch the birds hopelessly cry to their kind in the air. When he is now older and he hears any birds cries in the sky he painfully remember the day he denied two birds from freedom 'air' and allow them to experience a confuse ,lingering death.
ReplyDeleteThe two image to describe the birds before and after the incident is metaphor. Before the birds were shot by the poet . We learnt by the phrase ' birds on silver ivory wing's' not only the freedom of the bird but the viability ,beauty and warmth of life . Later in poem by the phrase ' broken silver ivory where wings should be '. This painfully contrast the first phrase to show that the birds lack freedom as their wings which symbolises freedom are broken .It also show that the birds will be forever denied of the air and it is a poignant contrast to the other birds on ' silver ivory wings' that are in the sky as it show that the birds with the broken wings are unable to be with their kind and therefore they have to remain behind as the migration pattern continue.
ReplyDeleteYou couldn't have said it better :)
DeleteI think you should have at least given us some information as you usually do because the main reason students come on the internet in the first place is to get more information than we already have, if we even have any.
